POSITION:

Drama Teacher (110 hours)

 

LOCATION:

HS of Art & Design, 245 East 56th Street, NY, NY 10022

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a Regular New York City License and/or New York State Certification as a TEACHER (Health, Physical Education, English, Science, American History, Global History, Algebra, Art) – selection will be based on student need

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

At least 2 years of Satisfactory Rating (Highly Effective/Effective) experience within the DOE:

  • Excellent record of attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with student volunteer groups.
  • Experience in working well with administration and other staff in developing student performance activities.
  • Experience in running fundraising activities.
  • Knowledge of computer programs and bookkeeping as applicable to the position;
  • Proven record of organizational skills.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize, promote, produce and direct stage production for school community.
  • Meet with art department teachers as needed to produce sets and costumes.
  • Develop methods of encouraging students to participate in drama club activities.
  • Recruit and supervise a student drama troupe.
  • Meet with student leaders to ensure that the production reflects current student ideas and trends.
  • Handle all funds for the drama club.
  • Must complete Permit 3 weeks before activity

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

110 hours per show (up to 2 shows – budget permitting)

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours will not be granted.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
