The Division of School Facilities (DSF) maintains and repairs buildings managed by the DOE. Our staff include the Custodian Engineers, handymen, and cleaners in each school. If you have any questions or concerns related to your building’s maintenance or cleanliness, please contact your school’s Principal or parent coordinator.
DSF oversees more than 1,300 sites throughout the five boroughs. This includes cleaning, garbage disposal, heating, air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, painting, minor repairs, and environmental safety. We track repair work from start to finish, paying close attention to quality and cost.

School Construction
The School Construction Authority
The School Construction Authority (SCA) designs and constructs safe, attractive, and environmentally sound public schools for children throughout New York City’s many communities. The SCA is dedicated to building and modernizing schools in a responsible, cost-effective manner while achieving the highest standards of excellence in safety, quality, and integrity.
Educational Construction Fund
The New York City Educational Construction Fund (ECF) increases New York City’s capacity to build new school facilities, increasing the number of seats available for students. And its focus on mixed-use real estate projects encourages widespread growth in the neighborhood.
ECF is a public benefit corporation created by the NY State Legislature in 1967. Since then, the fund has created over 18,000 school seats, 4,500 units of housing and 1.2 million square feet of office space in New York City.
