Service in Schools is excited to offer three professional learning and student programs for K-–10 classes. The Kids Action Team (for grade K-3), Students Taking Action Today (for grades 4-8), and Students Advocating for the Environment (for grades 6-10), are all designed to support teachers in leading students through a service-learning project to address a community need, in either a classroom or club setting. Middle School

College & Career Lab Info Session

Students in grades 7 and 8 are invited to register for the College & Career Lab (CCL) Fall Info Session to learn more about CCL, a tuition-FREE, six-year program offered as a multi-week intensive during the summer, along with Practice Lab sessions during the academic year to prepare students to succeed in their chosen postsecondary and career paths. CCL provides students the opportunity to explore a variety of academic pathways and ‘try on’ careers. At the info session, CCL staff will provide an overview of program offerings, review the application process, and answer questions about the program. Down to Earth: Space Science for Community Change

Calling all budding environmentalists and space enthusiasts! Join Science Friday and the International Space Station National Laboratory on a FREE cosmic mission to combat climate change in your own neighborhood. With Down To Earth you will get hands-on weekly design challenges that use easy-to-find, inexpensive supplies, and you will explore exciting STEM careers with real astronauts and space experts during live online events every Friday afternoon where you can ask questions and share ideas. High School

Lucille Lortel Theatre's NYC Public High School Playwriting Fellowship

The Lucille Lortel Theatre's NYC Public High School Playwriting Fellowship is an exciting 11-week playwriting mentorship program focused on sparking and showcasing young creative voices. Up to seven fellows will be chosen, one from each of the five boroughs and one each from D75 and D79 schools. The fellowship culminates with an evening of staged readings of these original student-written one-act plays with professional actors. The Battelle Climate Challenge offers students a chance to win a $5,000 STEM grant for a public school, library, or non-profit of their choice. Students can win the grant by learning about the impacts of climate-related hazards within their community and developing a proposed action to help build a more resilient community. Students who win the grand prize will present their solution on a national stage at the Innovations in Climate Resilience Conference in Washington D.C. NewMu Teens at the New Museum

NewMu Teens is a FREE after-school program that invites young people ages 15–19 to interact with contemporary art and culture with a focus on the intersections of gender, race, class, and sexual orientation. The program meets every Monday after school (excluding school recesses) at 250 Bowery, New York, NY, 10012, and participants receive a $500 stipend. Beyond the Sky: The Future of Aviation & Aerospace FREE Virtual Panel

Join the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) for a FREE virtual panel to learn about the latest innovations and cool intersections in the world of aviation and aerospace. Moderated by a NYSCI Explainer, highlighted panelists include: Mark Branch, NASA Goddard, Aerospace Engineer by day, professional DJ by night; Jabili Kandula, private pilot, aviation journalist, and crowned Miss New Jersey; Yostina Ishak, mechanical engineering student at Vaughn College of Aeronautics; and Tony Reid, Co-Founder and Vice President at Drone Cadets. Mas Family Scholarships

In 1996, the Mas family established a scholarship fund to advance the education of talented young Cuban and Cuban-American men and women, furthering their commitment to promoting the benefits and opportunities that can be garnered through hard work in a free society. Eligible students must be Cuban or of direct Cuban descent, have a 3.5 GPA or higher, demonstrate leadership and community involvement, and have financial need. Computer Science for All Pathfinders Internship
