College Point High School Leader

Location: College Point, Queens
School Opens: September 2027
Application Deadline: July 1, 2026

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced school leader with the capacity to design a rigorous, community-responsive high school that prepares students for college, careers, civic life, and economic mobility through strong instruction, meaningful pathways, and real-world learning. College Point currently does not house a high school — many students travel outside the neighborhood, and several surrounding Queens high schools are overutilized. The selected leader must design a school compelling to local families, lead the recruitment of students and hiring of staff, while contributing to a stronger Queens North high school ecosystem.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • School Design: Design a rigorous high school model aligned to New York Inspires and the New York State Portrait of a Graduate, including a scope and sequence including strong academic preparation, durable skills, meaningful assessment practices, and clear postsecondary pathways. Articulate a clear school focus and develop partnerships aligned to the focus.
  • Community Engagement: Develop and lead a design team with College Point families, CEC 25, CCHS, middle school communities, elected officials, and other stakeholders to ensure the school model reflects local needs while meeting citywide high school expectations.
  • Educational Leadership: Foster a culture of high expectations, equity, and continuous improvement; develop and communicate a clear vision that inspires and motivates all stakeholders.
  • Staff Development: Recruit, hire, and develop highly qualified educators; conduct ongoing coaching and performance evaluation.
  • Student Success: Use data to drive achievement, attendance, and behavior; build an inclusive culture supporting all learners including students with IEPs and English Language Learners.
  • Budget & Operations: Manage the school budget; oversee procurement of materials, technology, and facilities.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and city regulations including New York Inspires and the New York State Portrait of a Graduate.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid NYS certificate: SAS, SDA, SBL, or Administrator Certificate (internship certificates not accepted)
  • Must be in the NYCPS Principal Candidate Pool
  • Master's degree in education or related field
  • Experienced school principal with a strong high school background
  • Demonstrated success improving student achievement and building positive school culture
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and collaborative leadership skills
  • Knowledge of current educational trends, research, and best practices
